Wigh the 8,848.13 high peak, Mount Everest is the world's highest mountain, located at the border between China and Nepal. Some call it "Qomolangma" which means "Mother Goddess of the Earth" in Tibet language. Mt Everest has two base camps: South Base Camp ( 5,364m ) in Nepal and North Base Camp ( 5,150m ) in Tibet. We specialize in the North Base Camp and offer EBC tours.
The best place to view Mt. Everest is at the northern EBC in Tibet. At the EBC, travelers can see the northern face of the magnificent highest peak. Most experienced mountaineers also choose to climb Mt. Everest from this base as it is more challenging than the south side.
The best time to visit there is from April to May and from September to November, or we can spring and autumn is the best season. Due to the clear weather, you have the opportunity to see Mt. Everest's true face. However, the weather in the Mt. Everest is notoriously changeable. Please pay attention to the weather changes when you plan to go there.
Highlights of EBC
Flag Cloud
The highest point of Mt. Everest is covered by white snow all the year around. When the dazzling sunshine on the snow mountain, the peak is just like a white pyramid miraculously transferred by the Goddess. With the thick freely moving clouds and fogs, it looks like as if a flag, with the mast of the peak was swinging, will shroud the peak, which is known as "Flag Cloud".
Bright Glaciers
The bright Glaciers are amazing. When ices are formed into various shapes like bridges, pagodas and others. You can also find miles of efflorescent rock physiognomy there, such as stalagmites, stelae, stone sword and stone pagodas.
Wild Animals and Plants
Mt. Everest has been built as a national natural reserves, in which live thousands of kinds of plants, varieties of wild animals. Most of them are precious and rare, such as snow leopard, redwood, etc.
Rongbuk Monastery
This monastery is the highest altitude temple ( over 5,000m ) in the world located at the foot of Mt. Everest. It is one of the best points to appreciate the scenery of Mt. Everest. Rongbuk Glacier around this area is also the largest among all glaciers here. In fact, the Tourists' EBC we often say is located at the Rongbuk Glacier between Rongbuk Monastery and the Climbers' EBC.
How to go there?
Nowadays, travelers are able to get there via the following vehicles:
1) Bus
The bus is arranged basing on the number of tourists, usually 9-22 people in 19-28 seat bus. The price is the cheaper than mini van or 4-seat car, bus it takes more time.
2) 4-seat car
Most 4-seat car in Tibet are Toyota 400 which is proved the best vehicle for Tibet plateau environment and it always able to be at good working condition. The price is the most expensive, but the tour is flexible with it.
3) Mini van
Basing on the number of tourists, the min van is arranged, usually 5-8 people in 7-14 seat van. From April to November, tourist can choose this kind of vehicle.
Travel Tips
1. Permits: When visiting Everest Base Camp, foreign tourists must hold Tibet Tourism Bureau Permit, Aliens' Travel Permit, Frontier Pass which should be entrusted to a Tibet local travel agency for application.
2. Take sunscreen, sunglasses and cap for protect yourself from UV radiation damages.
3. Take lip balm to avoid chapped lips, and drinking water to avoid dehydrate.
4. If you want to climb Mt. Everest, please plan your tour in the period between late April and early June, or early September and late October, among which less than 20 days are actually fine.
5. Near the tourists' EBC, there are the cell phone signal reception towers for your calling, and post office for your sending postcard to your friends.
