Located in Nyingchi Prefecture of Tibet, Namjagbarwa Peak is reputed to be the "Paradise in the Clouds". In Tibetan language, Namjagbarwa literally means "a spear piercing into the sky", with an existence of over 700 million years and the first piece of land in the Himalayan region to emerge from the sea. It is the 15th highest peak in the world, with an altitude of 7,782m above the sea level.
Standing the interior of the bend of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, and facing Indian Ocean, the peak has a great abundance of mountain eco-systems, mountain vegetation forms and bio-communities. Its majestic appearance, precipitous shape and unpredictable climate have been an ambitious aim of mountain-climbing organizations from different countries. Viewing from the top down to the bottom, in a linear distance of 2km, tourists can see scenes on the Peak, varying from snowy winter to evergreen season.
Travel Tips
1. Permits: When visiting Nyingchi Prefecture, foreign tourists must hold Tibet Tourism Bureau Permit, Aliens' Travel Permit, Military Permit which should be entrusted to a Tibet local travel agency for application.
2. The best time to visit is April, October and November. The temperature is about from 20? to 30?.
3. There is no hotels or hostels, tourists need to take rent and sleeping bay.
4. Be sure to respect the local customs and religious beliefs.
5. Take enough clothes to keep warm, sunglasses and suncream to avoid sunburning.
