Butter Lamp Festival

On the 15th day of the first Tibetan month, Tibet Butter Lamp Festival is celebrated for the victory of Sakyamuni against heretics in a religions debate. On the day, Tibetan people will go to the temples and monasteries to burn incense and light butter lamps for worshiping Buddhas.

In the daytime, Tibetan people make the butter lamps by themselves, and then put up on the streets to display the lamps and the highest one can reach 3-storey buildings. They are in different forms of gods, Buddha figures, landscapes, pavilions flowers and trees, birds and beasts and can be burnt.

When the evening coming, the lamas will light the butter lamp, which are either grand or small. The lights make the street as bring as in the day. Then Tibetan people sing and dance while enjoying the lamps. Come here to enjoy the joyful atmosphere of Tibetan festival.
