2015 Shoton Festival celebrated in Lhasa during Aug.14 to Aug.20, 2015. As one of the most popular traditional festivals in Tibet, Shoton Festial has become a comprehensive celebration and a great occasion for both Tibetans and tourists.
During this annual festival, normally held in the month of August, or late in the sixth month or early in the seventh month of the Tibetan calendar, tourists can have a special feel for Tibet and its amazing culture.

Buddha Thangka Unveiling Ceremony in Drepung Monastery
about 100 lamas will carry the large-scale Thangka portraying Qamba Buddha (or Maitreya) out of the Coqen Hall of the Drepung Monastery and walk towards the west of the monastery where a special platform is set up for the Buddha picture exhibition.
Tibetan Opera in Norbulingka and Dragon King Pond Park(Longwangtan Park)
Tibetan opera is another important part of the Shoton Festival, which performed every day during the festival at the Norbulingka and Dragon King Pond Park near Potala Palace.
