Complete Medical Checklist for Tibet Traveling
Following is a list of items you should consider including in your miedial kit for traveling Tibet – consult your pharmacist for brands available in your country. Be prepared with all or some of them based on your need when touring of Tibet.
1.) Antibiotics – useful for everyone traveling to Tibet to avoid risks of receiving poorly stored local medications; see your doctor (anti-biotics must be prescribed) and carry the prescription with you.
2.) Antifulngal cream or powder – for fungal skin infections and thrush.
3.) Antihistamine – for allergies (eg hay fever) to ease the itch from insect bites or stings, and to prevent motion sickness.
4.) Antiseptic (such as povidone-iodine) – for cuts and grazes.
5.) Bandges, Band-Aids (plasters) and other wound dressings.
6.) Calamine lotion, sting-relief spray or aloe vera – to ease irritation from sunburn and insect bites or stings.
7.) Cold and flu tablets, throat lozenges and nasal decongestant.
8.) Homeopathic medicines – useful homeopathic medicines include gentiana for altitude sickness, echinacea for warding off infections, and tea-tree oil for cuts and scrapes.
9.) Insect repellent, sunscreen, lip balm and eye drops.
10.) Loperamide or diphenoxylate – ‘blockers’ for diarrhoea.
11.) Multivitamins – for long trips, when dietary viatmin intake may be inadequate.
12.) Paracetamol (acetaminophen in the USA) – for pain or fever.
13.) Rehydration mixture – to prevent dehydration (eg during bouts of diarrhoea); particularly important when traveling with children.
14.) Scissors, tweezers and a thermometer – note that mercury thermometers are prohibited by airlines.
15.) Sterile kit – in case you need injections in a country with medical hygiene problems; discuss with your doctor.
16.) Water purification tablets or iodine.
