Tibet Travel Permit for Mt.Kailash Region Tour Suspended from Oct 1, 2014
News: It is officially announced by the Tibet tourism bureau and other departments that Tibet travel permit for Mt.Kailash and far western Tibet tours would be closed from Oct.1st, 2014, because of the worsening weather and traffic safety concerns. Even if you already obtained all the permits to Kailash region, you still need to rearrange the itinerary and get out of the region before Sept 30th, 2014.
Tibet usually enters the winter season from the middle of October onwards, while Nagri region and other high prefectures with high elevation always experience the cold much earlier than Lhasa and other regions. Thus, it’s a bit hazardous to travel the Mt.Kailash and the region around during the winter season.
The best season to travel around the Mt.Kailash region is from May to September each year, and the golden time is from May to June on solar calendar when the annual Saga Dawa Festival is held at that time. There will be many grand and folk activities involved.
Tour-Tibet.com organizes a 11-13 days join-in small group tour to Mount Kailash region from June to September each year. Compared to the private itinerary, you will enjoy the scenery of the region at a reasonable price by taking the join-in tour.
